Description of the "Solar Energy Apartments" complex
Solar Energy Flats (SEA) is an innovative residential complex in the Ortachala district, which became the first building in Georgia and across the entire Caucasus region to be fully adapted for the use of solar energy. A 9-storey building with 72 flats Designed as a self-sufficient ecosystem: solar panels are installed not only on the roof but also on the balconies, whilst geothermal water is used to provide residents with hot water at temperatures of up to 70°C and to power the underfloor heating system. The project is certified to the highest European BREEAM standard and is listed in the international ‘Green Beech’ register. Investment in the project totalled $2.7 million.
The flats in the development are handed over to buyers fully furnished and equipped with premium-class appliances. Residents are exempt from bills for electricity, the lift and other energy-related services, saving up to 75% on utility costs. The building incorporates ‘smart home’ technology, including a retinal recognition system for access, a smart lift that generates energy as it moves, and its own weather station. The flats feature high 3-metre ceilings and featuring enhanced sound insulation through the use of energy-efficient units meeting European standards.
